Ocular Surface Changes in Hashimoto's Thyroiditis Without Thyroid Ophthalmopathy

Patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis often experience dry eye syndrome and ocular discomfort due to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), even without thyroid eye disease. The severity of MGD correlates with the duration of Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

- Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a likely cause of dry eye syndrome in Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
- The duration of Hashimoto's thyroiditis is associated with the severity of MGD.
