Intentional nontherapy in long QT syndrome

For select long QT syndrome (LQTS) patients who are asymptomatic with a QTc <470 ms, an observation-only strategy shows excellent outcomes. This approach offers a better quality of life than beta-blocker treatment.

- An observation-only strategy may be suitable for highly selected, asymptomatic LQTS patients with older age at diagnosis and QTc <470 ms.
- This approach yielded excellent outcomes and improved quality of life compared to beta-blocker treatment.
- Prophylactic implantable cardioverter-defibrillators are not recommended for this low-risk LQTS profile.
