The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Summary

Workplace loneliness in nurses is reduced by strong leader-member exchange, trust, and communication. Meaningful work also decreases loneliness, highlighting the impact of managerial relationships on nurse well-being.

Background:

Workplace loneliness negatively impacts job satisfaction and worker health.
Understanding factors contributing to nurse loneliness is crucial for healthcare settings.
Loneliness can lead to decreased overall well-being among healthcare professionals.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the influence of social interaction variables and work meaningfulness on nurses' workplace loneliness.
To examine the roles of leader-member exchange, trust, and communication frequency in nurses' experiences of loneliness.
To determine how meaningfulness of work affects feelings of isolation among nurses.

Main Methods:

Cross-sectional study involving 864 Turkish nurses.
Self-report scales measured leader-member exchange, trust, communication frequency, work meaningfulness, and loneliness.
Data collected at two time points, one month apart, to mitigate bias.

Main Results:

Lower leader-member exchange and communication frequency were associated with increased workplace loneliness.
Decreased trust in leaders correlated with higher levels of nurse loneliness.
Reduced perceptions of meaningful work were linked to greater workplace loneliness.

Conclusions:

Enhancing manager-nurse communication and exchange can mitigate workplace loneliness.
Building trust between leaders and nurses is key to reducing loneliness.
Fostering a sense of meaningful work is essential for decreasing nurse isolation.
