Longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis (LETM) in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders can co-occur with active pulmonary tuberculosis. This case report highlights a young patient who recovered well with combined anti-tuberculosis treatment and corticosteroids.
Area of Science:
- Neurology
- Infectious Diseases
- Immunology
Background:
- Longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis (LETM) is a key feature of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD).
- The simultaneous occurrence of active pulmonary tuberculosis with NMOSD is uncommon.
