A novel class of polymorphic toxins in Bacteroidetes

Researchers discovered a new class of bacterial toxins, TANFOR-containing proteins, in Bacteroidetes. These toxins have antibacterial and anti-eukaryotic functions and are likely secreted via the type IX secretion system (T9SS).
