Space Trusses01:25

Space Trusses

1.2K
A space truss is a three-dimensional counterpart of a planar truss. These structures consist of members connected at their ends, often utilizing ball-and-socket joints to create a stable and versatile framework. The space truss is widely used in various construction projects due to its adaptability and capacity to withstand complex loads.
At the core of a space truss lies the fundamental unit known as the tetrahedron. This structure is composed of six members that form a three-dimensional shape...

A space truss is a three-dimensional counterpart of a planar truss. These structures consist of members connected at their ends, often utilizing ball-and-socket joints to create a stable and versatile framework. Rocket Propulsion in Empty Space - I01:13

Rocket Propulsion in Empty Space - I

3.6K
The driving force for the motion of any vehicle is friction, but in the case of rocket propulsion in space, the friction force is not present. The motion of a rocket changes its velocity (and hence its momentum) by ejecting burned fuel gases, thus causing it to accelerate in the direction opposite to the velocity of the ejected fuel. In this situation, the mass and velocity of the rocket constantly change along with the total mass of ejected gases. Due to conservation of momentum, the...

Rocket Propulsion In Empty Space - II

3.3K
The motion of a rocket is governed by the conservation of momentum principle. A rocket's momentum changes by the same amount (with the opposite sign) as the ejected gases. As time goes by, the rocket's mass (which includes the mass of the remaining fuel) continuously decreases, and its velocity increases. Therefore, the principle of conservation of momentum is used to explain the dynamics of a rocket's motion. The ideal rocket equation gives the change in velocity that a rocket...

Relative Motion Analysis using Rotating Axes-Problem Solving

Consider a crane whose telescopic boom rotates with an angular velocity of 0.04 rad/s and angular acceleration of 0.02 rad/s2. Along with the rotation, the boom also extends linearly with a uniform speed of 5 m/s. The extension of the boom is measured at point D, which is measured with respect to the fixed point C on the other end of the boom. For the given instant, the distance between points C and D is 60 meters.
Here, in order to determine the magnitude of velocity and acceleration for point...

Censoring Survival Data01:09

Censoring Survival Data

460
Survival analysis is a statistical method used to analyze time-to-event data, often employed in fields such as medicine, engineering, and social sciences. One of the key challenges in survival analysis is dealing with incomplete data, a phenomenon known as "censoring." Censoring occurs when the event of interest (such as death, relapse, or system failure) has not occurred for some individuals by the end of the study period or is otherwise unobservable, and it might have many different...

Area of Science:

  • Dentistry
  • Medical Education
  • Digital Health

Background:

  • YouTube™ videos are increasingly used for patient education.
  • Space maintainers are crucial dental devices, but their explanation can be complex.
  • The reliability of online health information, particularly on platforms like YouTube™, requires critical evaluation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the quality and reliability of information regarding space maintainers presented on YouTube™.
  • To determine the proportion of high-quality versus low-quality educational videos on this topic.

Main Methods:

  • A systematic search was conducted on YouTube™ using the keyword "space maintainers".
  • 46 videos were analyzed using a seven-parameter scoring system and the video information and quality index.
  • Statistical analysis included t-tests, Mann-Whitney U-test, Chi-square test, and Pearson correlation.

Main Results:

  • The average content quality score was 2.89 out of 7.
  • Only 32.6% of analyzed videos were classified as high quality.
  • High-quality videos showed a statistically significant higher "likes" index.

Conclusions:

  • The overall quality of information about space maintainers on YouTube™ is predominantly low.
  • Videos uploaded by dental specialists or practitioners did not consistently provide higher quality content compared to other sources.
