Germ cell tumors represent 15% of anterior mediastinum tumors.
Bronchial fistulas are abnormal communications between the bronchial tree and adjacent structures, often presenting with severe symptoms like hemoptysis and pneumonia.
These fistulas can arise from various causes, posing diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

Observation:

A case of a 25-year-old patient with mediastinal embryonic carcinoma is presented.
The patient developed a bronchial fistula connecting the mediastinal mass to the bronchial tree following chemotherapy and thoracic radiotherapy.
Computed tomography (CT) is crucial for diagnosing bronchial fistulas, revealing direct and indirect signs of the fistulous tract.

Findings:

The study reviews epidemiological aspects, pathophysiology, and radiological findings of bronchial fistulas.
Emphasizes the potential for bronchial fistula formation as a complication of mediastinal germ cell tumors treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
