Summary

This study developed the first EQ-5D-5L value set for Vietnam using composite time trade-off and discrete choice experiment methods. The resulting health values will aid economic evaluations in Vietnam.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a novel EQ-5D-5L value set reflecting the health preferences of the Vietnamese general adult population.

  • A nationally representative sample of 1200 Vietnamese adults was recruited using multi-stage stratified cluster sampling.
  • Composite time trade-off (C-TTO) and discrete choice experiment (DCE) methodologies were employed.
  • Hybrid modeling, combining C-TTO and DCE data, was selected as the best approach for generating the value set.

Main Results:

  • Mobility emerged as the most influential factor in health state valuations, followed by pain/discomfort.
  • The developed Vietnamese EQ-5D-5L values range from -0.5115 to 1.
  • The hybrid model, utilizing all available data, was chosen for its consistency and comprehensiveness.

Conclusions:

  • This marks the first EQ-5D-5L value set derived from a nationally representative sample in Vietnam.
