Ultrasound-Guided Orthotopic Implantation of Murine Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma
Published on: November 19, 2019
Abstract:
Matching patients with pancreatic cancer to therapies based on genomic alterations in their tumors may be beneficial. In the retrospective Know Your Tumor trial, patients with alterations who were treated with targeted agents lived longer than those treated with standard therapies.
Insights
Genomic alterations in pancreatic cancer tumors can guide treatment. Patients receiving targeted therapies based on these genetic changes in the Know Your Tumor trial showed improved survival compared to standard treatments.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Genomics
- Translational Medicine
Background:
- Pancreatic cancer treatment often lacks targeted approaches.
- Identifying specific genomic alterations in tumors is a growing area of research.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the benefit of matching pancreatic cancer patients to therapies based on tumor genomic alterations.
- To compare survival outcomes between patients treated with targeted agents versus standard therapies.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective analysis of the Know Your Tumor trial data.
- Patient stratification based on identified genomic alterations.
- Comparison of survival data between treatment groups.
Main Results:
- Patients with identified genomic alterations who received targeted therapies demonstrated longer survival.
- Targeted agent therapy showed a survival benefit over standard therapies in this cohort.
Conclusions:
- Genomic profiling of pancreatic tumors can inform personalized treatment strategies.
- Matching patients to targeted therapies based on tumor genomics may improve outcomes in pancreatic cancer.
