Modified ultrafiltration (MUF) and cell washing are recommended for blood conservation after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Off-line MUF showed the least transfusions, while online MUF did not reduce blood transfusion rates compared to other methods.

- Off-line MUF was associated with the lowest transfusion frequency.
- Further randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings on blood conservation strategies post-CPB.
