Abstract:
The phytochemical investigation on the whole plant of Hypericum przewalskii yielded a new benzophenone, hyperprzeone A (1) together with 20 known compounds (2-21). The structure of compound 1 was elucidated by detailed 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic techniques as well as MS evidence. Some compounds displayed selective cytotoxic activity against six human tumour cell lines (SH-SY5Y, MDA-MB-231, SiHa, SMMC-7721, NCI-H460 and A375). Hyperprzeone A (1) showed moderate cytotoxicity against SH-SY5Y cell with the IC50 value as 25.54 μM, and further flow cytometry analysis revealed that hyperprzeone A (1) caused SH-SY5Y cell apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner by blocked the cell cycle at S phase.
