Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Genetics
  • Clinical Medicine

Background:

  • Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by defective DNA repair, leading to increased sensitivity to sunlight and a high risk of skin cancer.
  • Neurologic complications are common and progressive in patients with XP, particularly in Group A.
  • Seizure disorders are rarely reported in association with XP, with only three previous cases documented.
