Serum and prostatic tissue concentrations of ofloxacin
1Department of Urology, National Medical Center Hospital, Tokyo, Japan.
Abstract:
Serum concentrations of ofloxacin were determined in 28 patients, and prostatic tissue concentrations were analyzed in 26 patients, receiving a single 400-mg oral dose of the agent prior to transurethral prostatectomy. The maximum serum concentration was 5.198 micrograms/ml, the time of maximum concentration was 195.1 minutes, and the terminal half-life was 211.7 minutes. The prostatic tissue concentrations of ofloxacin were similar to those in serum (ratio, 1.06 +/- 0.37).
