Summary

Thyroid dysfunction, particularly overt hypothyroidism and thyroid peroxidase antibody positivity, increases anemia risk in pregnant women. Even treated hypothyroidism poses a risk in the second half of pregnancy, necessitating closer hemoglobin monitoring.

  • Treated hypothyroidism is also identified as a risk factor for anemia in the latter half of pregnancy.
  • Findings suggest enhanced hemoglobin monitoring for pregnant women with thyroid dysfunction is warranted.
