Area of Science:

  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Sports Medicine

Background:

  • Proximal biceps tendon pain is a frequent cause of shoulder dysfunction.
  • Nonoperative treatments are often insufficient for persistent shoulder pain.
  • Biceps tenotomy and tenodesis are surgical options for refractory cases.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To present a novel technique for mini-open subpectoral biceps tenodesis.
  • To describe an onlay technique utilizing an all-suture anchor with needles.
  • To highlight the efficiency and complication-minimizing benefits of this approach.

Main Methods:

  • A mini-open subpectoral approach was employed.
  • An onlay technique was utilized for tendon fixation.
  • An all-suture anchor preloaded with needles was used for securement.

Main Results:

  • The described technique allows for efficient tendon fixation.
  • This method aims to minimize potential complications associated with biceps tenodesis.
  • The technique secures the proximal biceps tendon effectively.

Conclusions:

  • Mini-open subpectoral biceps tenodesis with an all-suture anchor is a viable surgical option.
  • This technique offers an effective solution for proximal biceps tendon pain.
  • It provides a method to address shoulder pain while minimizing adverse outcomes.
