A modified Del Nido cardioplegia (DN) solution using normal saline (NS) is as safe and effective as the original formulation. This NS-based DN offers a viable alternative where PlasmaLyte-based DN is unavailable, preserving cardiac function post-ischemia.

- Creatine kinase-MB levels and mitochondrial scores were similar between groups, indicating no increased myocardial damage with NS-DN.
