Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) commonly causes airway-centric pneumonia in adults, distinct from other viruses. This virus is more likely to cause bronchopneumonia, a finding that should be considered in chest CT scans.

- Healthcare providers should consider hMPV in the differential diagnosis of pneumonia on chest CT.
