Background:

Digital capability is essential for nurses, impacting their work and patient outcomes.
Technology is increasingly integrated into nursing practice and healthcare delivery.

Purpose of the Study:

To synthesize evidence on developing digital capability in nurses.
To identify strategies for effective integration of digital skills in the nursing workplace.

Main Methods:

Systematic review following PRISMA guidelines.
Searched CINAHL, Embase, PsychINFO, Medline, and PubMed (2008-2019).
Quality assessment of 35 retrieved studies using Joanna Briggs Institute tools.

Main Results:

17 studies (7 quantitative, 8 qualitative, 2 mixed-methods) were included.
Digital capability integration depends on user proficiency and competence.
Nurses use technology for point-of-care data access, evidence retrieval, and medical records.
Concerns regarding technology use at the point of care can be addressed by investment.

Conclusions:

Digitally proficient nurses possess key attributes that promote technology adoption.
Involving nurses as end-users in digital system development is vital.
Investment in professional development for digital skills is a priority.
