Summary

Lateral recess stenosis, a common cause of lumbar radiculopathy, can compress nerve roots. This video demonstrates surgical decompression for L4-L5 stenosis, relieving L5 radiculopathy symptoms.

Area of Science:

  • Neurosurgery
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Spinal Anatomy

Background:

  • Lateral recess stenosis frequently causes lumbar radiculopathy in adults.

  • Nerve root compression in the lateral recess results from degenerative changes.
  • These changes include medial facet hypertrophy, ligamentum flavum hypertrophy, and disc herniation.
