Cross talk between alcohol-induced oxidative stress and HCV replication

Acute alcohol intake boosts hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication by suppressing innate immunity and inducing autophagy. Chronic alcohol use, however, increases oxidative stress, reducing HCV replication but harming liver cells.
