Area of Science:

  • Pulmonology
  • Rheumatology
  • Infectious Diseases

Background:

  • Behçet's syndrome is a rare multisystemic inflammatory disorder.
  • Pulmonary tuberculosis is an infectious disease rarely associated with Behçet's syndrome.

Observation:

  • Three cases of pulmonary tuberculosis in patients diagnosed with Behçet's syndrome are presented.
  • The clinical presentation and diagnostic challenges are highlighted.

Findings:

  • The co-occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis and Behçet's syndrome is documented.
  • Potential immunological or environmental factors linking the two conditions are discussed.

Implications:

  • This case series may prompt further investigation into the relationship between Behçet's syndrome and tuberculosis.
  • Understanding these associations can improve diagnostic strategies and patient management for rare co-infections.
