Background:

The National Immunization Program Information System is crucial for managing immunization actions.
Effective implementation relies on understanding existing structural and process conditions.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze the structural and process conditions influencing the establishment of the National Immunization Program Information System.
Identify barriers and facilitators for system implementation in vaccination settings.

Main Methods:

A cross-sectional study was conducted in 307 vaccination rooms in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2017.
Data were collected using a multidimensional questionnaire.
Descriptive data analysis was employed.

Main Results:

Vaccination rooms possess basic infrastructure for system establishment.
Significant challenges were identified in professional practice, including low population enrollment, inadequate active search for absentees, and issues with vaccine scheduling.
Lack of reports for monitoring vaccination coverage was noted, with training deemed insufficient and ineffective.

Conclusions:

The Immunization Information System is an essential technological innovation for immunization management.
Challenges persist in timely record production and information utilization.
Increased investment in training is necessary for effective system management and operationalization.
