Lateral pharyngeal radiographs and fluoroscopy can predict obstructive sleep apnea surgery outcomes. Patients with longer soft palates and obstruction at the soft palate level on fluoroscopy are more likely to benefit from surgery.

- No successes occurred in patients with a soft palate length < 46 mm.

- Soft palate length and the level of airway obstruction during sleep, as visualized by fluoroscopy, are potential predictors of surgical success in OSA.
- Patients with longer soft palates (conservatively > 40 mm) and obstruction beginning at the soft palate level may benefit most from soft-palate resection.
