Abstract:
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is becoming an increasingly important public health problem. This article concerns the pulmonary complications of AIDS, both infectious and neoplastic. After a brief historical introduction, the pathophysiologic mechanisms are presented, followed by a description of the clinical manifestations of AIDS and its pulmonary complications.
