Background:

Synchronous multiple primary lung cancer (SMPLC) affects 0.5% to 2% of lung cancer patients.
Discordant histology (small cell and non-small cell lung carcinoma) in SMPLC is exceptionally rare.
Literature on treatment and prognosis for synchronous discordant histology SMPLC is limited.
