Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine if MMP predicts sperm motility at 4 hours in men with varying MMP levels.
  • To investigate the relationship between impaired mitochondrial function and sperm motility decline.
  • To assess the clinical relevance of MMP in male reproductive health.

Main Methods:

  • 31 men were enrolled, with sperm analysis following WHO 2010 criteria.
  • Mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) was measured using JC-1 staining via flow cytometry at T0.
  • Sperm total and progressive motility were assessed at T0 and T4 (4 hours post-collection).

  • Patients were divided into normal (Group A, n=18) and impaired (Group B, n=13) MMP groups.
