Roles for circulating polyunsaturated fatty acids in ischemic stroke and modifiable factors: a Mendelian

Higher levels of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) may protect against ischemic stroke (IS), while arachidonic acid (AA) appears to increase IS risk. Other polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) showed no significant association with IS risk.

- Findings suggest differential roles of specific PUFAs in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke.
