Background:

Childhood obesity presents a significant national health concern, particularly affecting pediatric populations within military healthcare settings.
The increasing prevalence of pediatric obesity necessitates effective intervention strategies within primary care environments.

Purpose of the Study:

To retrospectively assess the efficacy of a primary care-based structured weight management program for pediatric patients diagnosed with obesity.
To evaluate the impact of the 'All About Me Program' (AAMP) on anthropometric measures and behavioral targets in a military treatment facility setting.

Main Methods:

Retrospective chart review of 54 pediatric patients enrolled in the AAMP from August 2011 to July 2012.
Collected baseline data included demographics, 5-2-1-0 behavioral targets, and anthropometric measurements.
Compared pre- and post-program outcomes for 20 completers who attended five visits over three months, focusing on weight, BMI percentile, and behavioral adherence.

Main Results:

Significant reductions in body mass index (BMI) percentile were observed among participants.
Improvements noted in daily fruit and vegetable intake and increased physical activity levels.
Reductions in recreational screen time and consumption of sugary beverages were also significant.

Conclusions:

Preliminary findings suggest that primary care-based obesity interventions, such as the AAMP, are effective for managing and treating pediatric obesity.
The program's success indicates a promising model for broader implementation in pediatric primary care settings.
