Abstract:
Following the publication of the above article, an interested reader drew to the authors' attention that Figs. 3A and 5A contained the same image derived under a light microscope. Fig. 3A was intending to show the cell morphology of primary cultured human lung fibroblasts. In examining their source data, the authors have come to realize that, during the process of figure preparation, an incorrect image for Fig. 3A was selected, and the figure was compiled incorrectly. The corrected version of Fig. 3, containing the correct microscopic image for Fig. 3A, is shown opposite. Note that this error did not affect understanding of the morphology of human lung fibroblasts, either in terms of the results or the conclusions reported in this paper. The authors apologize to the Editor of International Journal of Molecular Medicine and to readership for any inconvenience caused. Insights
A correction has been issued for a previously published article. Figure 3A was inadvertently replaced with an incorrect image, but this did not impact the study's findings on human lung fibroblast morphology.
Area of Science:
- Cell Biology
- Microscopy
- Scientific Publishing
Background:
- The original article investigated human lung fibroblast morphology.
- A reader identified a potential issue with image duplication between figures.
Purpose of the Study:
- To address a reader's concern regarding image duplication in published figures.
- To provide a corrected figure and clarify its impact on the study's findings.
Main Methods:
- Re-examination of source data for figure preparation.
- Correction of the erroneous image in Figure 3A.
- Comparison of original and corrected figures.
Main Results:
- Figure 3A incorrectly used an image not representative of primary cultured human lung fibroblasts.
- The corrected Figure 3 now displays the accurate microscopic image for Figure 3A.
- The identified error did not alter the interpretation of results or conclusions.
Conclusions:
- The correction ensures accurate representation of human lung fibroblast cell morphology.
- The scientific integrity of the study's findings remains unaffected by the image error.
- The authors apologize for the oversight and any inconvenience caused.
