Summary

Fatigue is common in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), affecting patients regardless of disease activity. Managing sleep quality and depression, and reducing sedating medications can help alleviate CIDP-associated fatigue.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between fatigue and disease activity in CIDP patients.
  • To identify key factors contributing to fatigue severity in CIDP.

Main Methods:

  • Patients with probable or definite CIDP were categorized into active disease or remission groups.
  • Comprehensive assessments included fatigue, physical impairment, disability, sleepiness, sleep quality, and depression.
  • Data from 85 CIDP patients were analyzed.

Main Results:

  • Fatigue was prevalent in both active CIDP and remission groups, but more severe in the active group.
  • Sedating medication use, poor sleep quality, and higher depression levels significantly impacted fatigue.
