Heterogeneous vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (hVISA) is increasingly prevalent in bloodstream infections caused by methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). Patients with diabetes are at higher risk for hVISA infections, which are associated with multidrug resistance.
