Summary

Comparing bone processing methods for swine diets, this study found that defatting bones increased bone ash percentage. However, both defatted and non-defatted methods effectively detected dietary phosphorus differences in nursery pigs.

  • Bone processing method does not impede the detection of dietary P treatment differences in swine.
