Myocarditis, or heart inflammation, affects 7.1% of hospitalized dengue fever patients. Early detection is crucial as it increases illness severity and hospital stay duration.

Purpose of the Study:
- To determine the incidence of myocarditis in hospitalized dengue fever patients.

- A prospective observational study included 182 dengue fever patients (≥14 years).
- Exclusion criteria: medications affecting heart rhythm, pre-existing heart disease, electrolyte abnormalities.
- Baseline ECG, Trop-I, and NT-proBNP were performed. Echocardiography was done for elevated biomarkers. Myocarditis diagnosis followed ESC 2013 criteria.

- Myocarditis was diagnosed in 13 patients (7.1%).
- Myocarditis patients exhibited higher rates of shortness of breath, bleeding, fluid overload, and longer hospital stays.
- ECG abnormalities (24%), elevated biomarkers (15%), and echocardiographic findings (6%) were noted.
Conclusions:
- Myocarditis is a significant complication in hospitalized dengue fever patients.
- Dengue-related myocarditis is associated with increased morbidity and prolonged hospitalization.
