Summary

Active forgetting, or directed forgetting, involves intentionally forgetting information. While the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) is implicated, this study found no significant effect of dlPFC stimulation on forgetting. Combined results suggest a potential causal role, but more research is needed.
