Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a novel formulation for preserving mold allergen extract activity.
  • To enhance the stability of fungal extracts for diagnostic and therapeutic use.

Main Methods:

  • 48 stabilizer formulations were tested for allergenic activity over 40 days at 37°C using ELISA.
  • IgE reactivity of *A. alternata* extracts was assessed.
  • The most effective stabilizer was evaluated for its ability to protect Alt a1, *A. fumigatus*, and *C. herbarum* extracts.

Main Results:

  • A glycerol-based formulation with Arg and Glu, and an equal ratio of sucrose, sorbitol, and protein, was identified as the most effective stabilizer.
  • This formulation preserved over 95% of *A. alternata* extract allergenic activity after 40 days at 37°C.

  • A novel, efficient stabilizer for mold allergenic extracts was developed.
  • This formulation has significant practical applications in skin prick tests, ELISAs, immunotherapies, and RAST for mold allergies.
