Case:
A 16-year-old girl presented with pain and swelling of the medial edge of the clavicle. She denied previous trauma and was evaluated by multiple physicians for a possible infection or neoplastic lesion. The patient underwent multiple studies and procedures, including blood tests, imaging studies, and biopsy. After 6 months, a diagnosis of osteochondrosis of the medial clavicle was made. After 1 year of observation, the symptoms resolved.
Conclusions:
The rarity of Friedrich disease and the scarcity of literature may lead to delayed diagnosis of this pathology. Awareness of medical personnel of this condition may facilitate accurate diagnosis.
