Patient and family-centered care (PFCC)

Background:

Effective communication is crucial for patient and family-centered care (PFCC) in evolving healthcare settings.
Patient feedback in Diagnostic Imaging (DI) identified communication gaps.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce and evaluate the LADiBUG communication tool.
To address identified communication gaps and improve PFCC in DI.

Main Methods:

A pilot project was conducted in a rural DI setting.
Baseline and post-intervention patient feedback were collected.
Staff received education on the LADiBUG tool and PFCC principles.

Main Results:

Significant improvements were observed in informing patients about study duration (61%) and next steps (55%).
Staff introductions improved by 43% following the intervention.
The LADiBUG tool demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing patient communication.

Conclusions:

The LADiBUG tool effectively improves patient and family experience in DI by enhancing communication.
Continued staff education and feedback are essential for sustained success.
LADiBUG has broad applicability for staff-patient interactions across healthcare settings.
