The DNA methyltransferase DNMT3A contributes to autophagy long-term memory

Autophagy induction causes a lasting decrease in microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (MAP1LC3) expression via DNA methylation. This epigenetic memory may explain age-related autophagy decline and treatment effects.
