Background:

Traditionally, problem gambling is more prevalent in men.
Recent online gambling data suggest comparable risks for women.
This study investigates differences between male and female online gamblers in Sweden.

To compare characteristics of male and female moderate-risk and problem gamblers.
To identify gender-specific factors associated with problem gambling in online settings.
To inform targeted interventions for at-risk female gamblers.
