Area of Science:

  • Dentistry
  • Periodontology
  • Restorative Dentistry
  • Orthodontics

Background:

  • Esthetic appearance is crucial in anterior dental segment treatments.
  • Extensive subgingival tooth destruction poses significant restorative challenges.
  • Periodontal and restorative procedures often require adjunctive techniques.

Observation:

  • A case involving a tooth with extensive subgingival destruction was presented.
  • A multidisciplinary treatment approach was implemented.
  • Vertical extrusion was utilized as an adjunct to periodontal-restorative procedures.

Findings:

  • The integrated treatment plan combined orthodontic and periodontic interventions.
  • Successful restoration of the affected tooth was achieved.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Preservation of the tooth's esthetic appearance was accomplished.
  • Implications:

    • Vertical extrusion can be a valuable technique in complex periodontal-restorative cases.
    • Multidisciplinary dental treatment planning leads to favorable outcomes.
    • Establishing adequate biologic width and restorative margins is key for long-term success.
