Although the physiology and pathology of blood are similar in western countries and in tropical areas, some clear differences in blood constants and in haematological disorders are characteristics of latter regions. Haemoglobinopathy, G6PD deficiency and nutritional anemias predominant among red blood cells diseases; Burkitt's lymphoma is particular among lymphomas; in haemostatic abnormalities the frequency of intravascular coagulation and the rarity of thrombosis should be emphasized.
