Summary

Platelet activation does not appear to cause vascular issues in Type I diabetes patients. Tight blood sugar control and hypoglycemia do not significantly alter platelet activity markers in these individuals.

  • To investigate the role of platelet activation in microvascular complications of Type I diabetes.
  • To assess the impact of diabetic control and hypoglycemia on platelet function markers.

  • Measured plasma and urinary metabolites of thromboxane and prostacyclin.
  • Assessed platelet granule constituents and aggregation responses.
  • Evaluated markers before and after tight glycemic control and in response to hypoglycemia.
