The management of advanced prostatic cancer

Abstract:
The Urologic Cooperative Oncology Group (UCOG) has taken sight of the various disease factors that influence either high risk or low risk evaluation in newly diagnosed or hormonally refractory patients with disseminated prostate cancer. The previous studies of the National Prostatic Cancer Project (NPCP) with regard to the role of prostate antigen and other disease-free interval variations must be at least considered in designing new trials. The recent results of the EORTC Genitourinary Group regarding hormones must also similarly in my opinion, be reviewed for the same factors. If we agree on factors, we perhaps may even agree on the design of trials and our results may indeed in the future be comparable.
