Background:

  • Catastrophic thrombotic syndrome, or thrombotic storm (TS), is a rare but life-threatening condition characterized by rapid, widespread thromboembolic events.
  • Recent research suggests a link between elevated plasma Factor VIII levels and an increased risk of thrombotic events.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To present a case of thrombotic storm leading to multi-organ failure and death.
  • To investigate the role of elevated Factor VIII in a fatal thrombotic storm event.

Main Methods:

  • Case report of a 38-year-old male presenting with symptoms of thrombotic storm.
  • Diagnostic workup including imaging for thromboembolic events.
