Summary

Postoperative adhesions after caesarean section can cause small bowel obstruction. Laparoscopic surgery is a safe option for selected patients when conservative measures fail.

Background:

Caesarean section is a common abdominal surgery.
Postoperative adhesions are a significant complication, potentially leading to bowel obstruction.

Observation:

Two cases of small bowel obstruction following caesarean section for gynecological issues are presented.
Obstruction was caused by pelvic adhesion syndrome (volvulus) and adhesions between the sigmoid colon and ovary.

Findings:

Small bowel obstruction post-caesarean section is rare, with adhesions being the primary cause.
Diagnosis relies on clinical signs, imaging, and intraoperative findings.
Laparoscopic approach is suitable for select patients, but conversion to open surgery may be necessary for complex cases.

Implications:

Laparoscopy offers a safe and feasible treatment for selected cases of small bowel obstruction after caesarean section.
Careful patient selection and surgical judgment are crucial for successful laparoscopic management.
