Background:

Subacute thyroiditis is a transient inflammatory condition of the thyroid gland.
It typically presents with neck pain, goiter, and temporary thyroid dysfunction.
The condition is often associated with post-viral or post-bacterial inflammatory responses.

Observation:

A previously healthy 37-year-old female developed subacute thyroiditis.
Her presentation of COVID-19 was very mild.
This case suggests a potential link between SARS-CoV-2 infection and subacute thyroiditis.

Findings:

Subacute thyroiditis can be associated with mild COVID-19.
Thyroid function normalized within weeks.
The case demonstrates a correlation between SARS-CoV-2 and subacute thyroiditis.

Implications:

Consider SARS-CoV-2 testing in patients with symptoms suggestive of subacute thyroiditis.
This association may be more common given the high prevalence of asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infections.
Further research is warranted to understand the immunopathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2-induced subacute thyroiditis.
