Robotically assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy induces lower tissue trauma than radical retropubic

Robotically assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP) causes less tissue trauma than retropubic radical prostatectomy (RRP). This is indicated by lower levels of inflammatory mediators like IL-6 and IL-10 following RALP.

- IL-10 and IL-6 were significantly higher at T4 in the RRP group compared to the RALP group (p=0.000 and p=0.001, respectively).
- These findings suggest a more pronounced inflammatory response in RRP.
Conclusions:
- RALP appears to cause less tissue trauma than classical RRP.
- The limited increase in inflammatory mediators, specifically IL-6 and IL-10, supports the hypothesis that RALP is less traumatic.
- Further research can explore long-term outcomes and other inflammatory markers.
