- Three distinct patterns were identified: Inactive (59%), Active Improvers (17%), and Active Decliners (24%).
- Lower 6-minute walking distance and higher mMRC dyspnea scores were associated with the Inactive pattern.
- No baseline variables predicted whether patients would become Active Improvers or Active Decliners.
Conclusions:
- Physical activity progression over time in COPD patients is heterogeneous.
- The Inactive group is associated with poorer clinical COPD characteristics.
- Predicting active improvement or decline at baseline is not possible with current data.
