Background:

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition causing lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in men.
Aquablation Therapy is a novel robotic waterjet ablation technique for BPH treatment.

Purpose of the Study:

To characterize procedural variables and outcomes of Aquablation Therapy for BPH.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of robotically guided waterjet prostate resection in an all-comers cohort.

Main Methods:

Retrospective review of prospectively collected data from 55 men undergoing Aquablation.
Procedures were performed between July 2018 and December 2019 in a single US center.

Main Results:

Mean prostate volume was 100 cc; 85% had a middle lobe obstruction.
Significant improvements observed: 80% in BPH symptom scores and 182% in Qmax (urinary flow rate).
Comparable outcomes in patients with prostate volume >100 cc versus <100 cc.

Conclusions:

Aquablation Therapy is a safe and effective treatment for BPH in a community urology practice.
The procedure's efficacy is consistent regardless of prostate size or shape.
