Telomere damage induces internal loops that generate telomeric circles

Telomere damage creates internal loops (i-loops) that can be excised, forming extrachromosomal telomeric circles. This process links telomere damage to telomere erosion and circle formation in Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres (ALT) cells.
